This event forms part of the Student Summer Programme. On 11th and 12th August, from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Inquisitor’s Palace, young people aged 12 and over are invited to take part in From Pattern to Piece . This two-day hands-on workshop series explores the construction and development of waistcoats throughout history, providing participants with an accessible introduction to garment making and historical dress. Guided by a museum facilitator and curator, participants will have the unique opportunity to examine selected garments from the reserve collection up close, discovering the construction methods, stitching techniques, and craftsmanship behind these historic pieces. Through practical activities, they will develop basic skills in pattern drafting, stitching, and sewing, working towards creating their own garment components. All sewing materials will be provided by Heritage Malta. The participation fee is €35 for both days. Tickets can be purchased online here or from Heritage Malta museums and sites.
