Il-Ġostra Tradizzjonali u Tlielaq bil-Canoe għat-Tfal

The Annual Traditional Ġostra and Children’s Canoe Races is a long-established cultural and sporting event that forms an integral part of Xlendi’s traditional festivities. Held in the picturesque setting of Xlendi Bay, the event celebrates the revival of traditional water games that have been enjoyed by generations of locals and visitors alike. The highlight of the afternoon is the traditional ġostra, during which participants attempt to run along a greased wooden pole extending over the sea in an effort to capture flags before inevitably plunging into the water. The programme also features canoe races for children, encouraging younger generations to participate in traditional sporting activities while fostering a strong sense of community involvement.
