One of the Mediterranean's classic offshore races sets off from Malta's Grand Harbour — a 606-nautical-mile loop around Sicily and back. The harbour start is a spectacle in itself: a packed fleet of ocean-going yachts framed by Valletta's bastions. Good to know: the race runs over several days from 17 October; best watched from the Upper Barrakka Gardens and Grand Harbour viewpoints.
